摘要: Nickel (Ni) impregnation pretreatment has been demonstrated to effectively enhance gas yield and improve biochar quality during biomass pyrolysis. To investigate the catalytic mechanism of Ni, hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin were selected as representative biomass components. Fast pyrolysis experiments showed that Ni significantly influenced product distribution and gas composition. For lignin, the gas yield increased by 180.60 % after Ni pretreatment. Ni increased the production of H2 and CO in hemicellulose pyrolysis gas, which indicated that the decarbonylation and decarboxylation reactions were remarkably promoted by the nickel. In cellulose pyrolysis, nickel facilitated ring-opening reactions, resulting in more low-molecular-weight volatile compounds. Ni enhanced demethylation and demethoxylation in lignin, leading to a higher yield of phenolic products. The composition of tar was analyzed using pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS), while structural changes in char were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Additionally, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy was employed to study the evolution of free radicals during pyrolysis. The results revealed that Ni increased the concentration of free radicals and promoted the transformation from oxygen-centered to carbon-centered radicals at elevated temperatures, contributing to the formation of more stable aromatic carbon structures. This study clarified the influence of Ni on pyrolysis reaction pathways and free radical behavior in different biomass components. The findings provided theoretical insight into the role of nickel in regulating product formation and support the efficient and clean utilization of biomass for hydrogen production and biochar generation.
