摘要: To valorize sweet potato residues into high-performance cellulose nanofibers (CNFs), this study developed an innovative eco-friendly pre-treatment strategy. Sodium carbonate (SC) and sodium percarbonate (SP) were used as sustainable alternatives to conventional alkali-based protocols. SP exhibited greater advantages in both cellulose extraction and CNFs performance than SC. Under optimized conditions (30 g/L SP, 120 °C, 4 h, 200 g/L hydrogen peroxide), the process achieved a high cellulose extraction yield of 92.94 % with 94.73 % purity. The resulting CNFs (SPCNF1) exhibited a crystallinity index of 39.64 %, thermal stability up to 349 °C, and an average fibril diameter of ∼4 nm. Their water retention capacity exceeded 2500 %, comparable to commercialized CNF. In addition, SPCNF1 showed pronounced shear-thinning behavior and the highest consistency index (K = 1.39), reflecting well-entangled fibril networks and strong colloidal interactions. These results demonstrate that SP enables efficient CNF production from sweet potato residues, as a greener alternative to conventional approaches.
